Anderson Announces District Staff and Office Locations

State Capitol - Senator Joel Anderson (R - El Cajon) today formally announced the staff members he has hired for his two district offices:

Riverside District Director Tom Rogers was District Director for then-Assemblyman and later Senator Dennis Hollingsworth from 2000 to 2010. He had a 17-year career with Walt Disney Productions culminating as Senior Project Coordinator for the $500 million construction of Tokyo Disneyland. Rogers served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and he is active in several Riverside County non-profit community organizations, including volunteering with Angel Food and Project Touch which assist homeless familes, as well as Mentoring Today for Tomorrow, which helps "at-risk" children improve their grades in school and attitudes toward their place in society.

District Representative/Constituent Casework Manager Donna Thompson also served as a District Representative for then-Senator Dennis Hollingsworth from 2004 to 2010. She previously worked for the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District as well as an Executive Assistant at a local financial planning firm. She was recommended by the White House, and approved by then-Governor Schwarzenegger, as a Board Member for the U.S. Selective Service System (San Diego Region) where she has served for the last 7 years. Thompson also is active in several community organizations including serving on the board of GANAS (Guide and Nurture and Support), an arm of the Fallbrook Crime Prevention Committee.

San Diego District Director George Andrews previously served as Capitol Director for Orange County Assemblywoman Diane Harkey and as Executive Director of the Republican Party of Orange County. He has extensive experience with several candidates throughout California including the campaigns of Steve Poizner, Van Tran and Diane Harkey and was Executive Director for the California Border Police Initiative. Andrews received a Bachelors degree in Political Science and History from UC Davis.

District Representative/Constituent Casework Manager Lori Brown has worked for Anderson since 2007 as his Chief Constituent Casework Manager, in addition to representing the Senator at community events. She holds a real estate license and has been an agent in the residential market of San Diego County for the last 8 years. Brown has worked with the San Diego-based law firm of Luce, Forward Hamilton & Scripps and has served as a local spokesperson for Baskin-Robbins ice cream company.

District Representative Jordan Marks was Executive Director for the Young Americans for Freedom, a nationwide youth organization based in Washington, D.C., prior to going to work for Senator Anderson. He also has served as a legal intern for the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services and for the New York State Supreme Court. Marks served as Student Body President and Trustee at MiraCosta College in North County San Diego, received his Bachelors in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Juris Doctor from University of Buffalo (New York) Law School.

District Representative Ron Pennock has a 35-year background in the land title insurance business and previously was with the San Diego Police Department for over 10 years. He has served on several oversight committees for the County of San Diego, the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee as well as SANDAG and the Grossmont Union High School District. He has also served on the governmental affairs committees of the Building Industry Association, East County Association of Realtors and East County Chamber of Commerce. Pennock graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelors degree in Public Administration.

District Representative Ed Smith has 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry within the counties of Orange and San Diego. For the last four years he has owned his own real estate and brokerage firm and before that worked as a Supervising Broker at Plaza Financial Group. He has provided expert testimony on mortgage/financial issues before committees of the U.S. House of Representatives and the California State Legislature. He is a former State President, Vice-President and Director of the California Association of Mortage Professionals and led their government affairs team for the last several years. Smith received an Associate of Science degree in Administration of Justice from Miramar College.
